The Hungarian Air Force is the air force branch of the Hungarian Defense Force, responsible for conducting military air operations and air defense of the country. It was founded in 1918 and later re-established in 1948, after being disbanded during World War II.
The air force has a fleet of 59 aircraft, including fighter jets, transport planes, and helicopters. Its main fighter aircraft are the JAS-39 Gripen and the MiG-29 Fulcrum.
The air force has been involved in international missions and operations, often in collaboration with NATO forces. These have included operations in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Iraq, as well as participating in NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission.
In recent years, the Hungarian Air Force has also undergone modernization and restructuring efforts, including the acquisition of new equipment and technology.
